Emma Hough Hobbs studied at Flinders University and was recognized as an inspiring young director at the 2018 Fleurieu Film Festival. She initially worked primarily as a set decorator, production designer, and prop master on various short and feature film productions, including *Gold*, *Carnifex*, and *Talk to Me*. Together with Leela Varghese, she created the animated film *Lesbian Space Princess*, which screened in the Panorama section at the 2025 Berlin International Film Festival and was awarded the Teddy Award. Hobbs is openly lesbian and collaborates regularly with Varghese.
